South Wind, Clear Sky (Red Fuji)

Often called "Red Fuji" in English. A clear-morning view of Mount Fuji during the brief late-summer / early-autumn window when the south wind ("gaifū") strips snow from the lower slopes and dawn light catches the bare volcanic earth, turning the mountain a deep reddish brown. Composed of three colour fields — sky, mountain, and forest — with no figures, the print is an essay in geological scale. With "The Great Wave" and "Rainstorm Beneath the Summit", it forms the unofficial trio of the series.
