ジョルジュ・ブラック

Georges Braque co-founded Cubism with Pablo Picasso, though his restrained temperament meant Picasso's fame often overshadowed his equally inventive mind. Born in Argenteuil and raised in Le Havre, Braque trained as a decorator before moving to Paris around 1900. He initially painted in the Fauve manner of his mentor Matisse, but the 1907 Cézanne retrospective redirected him toward structure and geometry. From 1908, working intensely with Picasso—especially during their summers in Céret—he developed the fragmented, multifaceted vision that defined Analytic Cubism.
