These terms apply to chitra.art, its apps, and its TV build. By creating an account, posting, uploading, or using the apps you agree to them. Our copyright policy and privacy policy are part of these terms.
chitra.art is operated by 233 Solutions, Inc., 28 Redstone Court N.E., Calgary, Alberta T3N 0J4, Canada.
You need a verified email address to post, comment, vote, annotate, or upload. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account; you may not use the site on behalf of someone who has been terminated.
You warrant that you have the right to share what you upload. That means you own the image or have the rights holder's permission, or the use is otherwise lawful — for example a photograph you took of a public-domain painting, or a copy of a work you are asking the community to help attribute.
You grant chitra.art a licence to show it. For everything you post — images, text, annotations, comments — you grant 233 Solutions, Inc. a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, resize, tile, and display it on chitra.art and in its apps, feeds, digests, and TV mode, together with the annotations and commentary other members add. You keep ownership.
You can delete your posts and your account at any time. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period and in the records we keep of copyright notices, and content others have replied to may remain visible under a deleted-user label.
If you are the artist, the estate, or an authorised representative, you can opt any of your works out of the gallery, TV mode, and featured picks, or have them removed entirely, at any time and without a formal notice. Discussion threads about the work stay up under an opt-out. The copyright policy explains how.
Don't post:
New annotations are screened automatically and may be held for review. Moderators may remove content, hold it for review, or restrict accounts at their discretion.
We respond to copyright notices as described in the copyright policy. An account whose uploads are the subject of three upheld notices is permanently terminated.
Gallery and TV mode are for personal, non-commercial viewing in your home. You may not use them for public performance, commercial display, or as a source for copying, scraping, or redistributing images.
Auction listings, prices, provenance, and biographical details are compiled from public sources and member contributions for information only. They may be incomplete or wrong, and are not advice on buying, selling, valuing, or authenticating art.
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, and permanently terminate repeat infringers. Sections that by their nature should survive — licences already granted to content that remains, records of notices, disclaimers, and governing law — survive termination.
chitra.art is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, 233 Solutions, Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, and its total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service, which is nothing.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Alberta, without prejudice to any consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
We may update these terms. The date below shows the current version. Material changes are announced on the site, and continuing to use chitra.art after they take effect means you accept them.
