Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo trained in his father Giovanni Battista Tiepolo's workshop from age thirteen, becoming the master decorator's chief assistant. Working across Europe—from Würzburg to Venice to Madrid—he spent his early career transferring his father's designs and executing major commissions. After Giovanni Battista's death in 1770, Domenico returned to Venice and developed a distinctly personal style, moving away from his father's grand mythological schemes toward secular subjects drawn from Venetian life.
