ウィレム・デ・クーニング

Willem de Kooning painted with an intensity that earned him a place among the defining artists of the twentieth century. Born in Rotterdam in 1904, he came to New York in 1926 and became central to abstract expressionism and action painting—movements that broke decisively from earlier artistic traditions. His restless brushwork and emotional directness shaped the art world of the 1950s onward. De Kooning is best known for his Woman series, begun in 1950, where aggressive, fractured forms of the female figure emerge from dense, gestural marks.
