ゲルハルト・リヒター

Gerhard Richter, born in Dresden in 1932, is a German visual artist widely regarded as one of the most important contemporary painters. He moved to West Germany in 1961, just before the Berlin Wall's construction, and studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he later taught for over fifteen years. His expansive practice encompasses photo-paintings created from photographs and media images, abstract works, color charts, gray paintings, and large-scale glass installations. A defining technique involves blurring photographic sources across canvas.
