Biography
イサム・ノグチ
Artist community
Isamu Noguchi shaped the built environment as sculptor, designer, and landscape architect across six decades, moving fluidly between abstraction and functional form. Born in Los Angeles to a Japanese poet and American writer, he grew up between continents, studying with Constantin Brâncuși in Paris and drawing inspiration from Zen gardens, pottery, and traditional crafts in Japan. His restless practice ranged from Martha Graham's stage sets to the Akari light sculptures, from furniture that redefined modernist interiors to monumental gardens and parks.
