ジョアン・ミロ

Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a Catalan painter whose work commands a distinctive place in twentieth-century art. Though often grouped with the Surrealists—he joined their Paris circle in 1924—his art defied their conventions. Where other Surrealists pursued precise realism or literary narrative, Miró developed a language of liberated forms: organic, wildly coloured shapes and figures rendered in brilliant primary hues.
