パブロ・ピカソ

Picasso spent most of his long career in France, transforming twentieth-century art through relentless innovation. Born in Málaga in 1881, he received classical training from his father, a painter and art teacher, before moving to Barcelona and Madrid as a teenager. From 1900 he divided his time between Barcelona and Paris, gradually abandoning academic naturalism. His Blue Period gave way to the Rose Period, then to radical experiments with African sculpture and Iberian art that culminated in Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907), a foundational work of Cubism.
