ジャクソン・ポロック

Jackson Pollock revolutionized painting by laying canvas on the studio floor and pouring or flicking liquid paint across its surface from above, a technique he called drip painting. Born in Wyoming in 1912, he trained under Thomas Hart Benton at the Art Students League in New York, then worked on murals for the WPA Federal Art Project in the 1930s and 1940s. His most celebrated paintings emerged between 1947 and 1950, when he achieved an "all-over" composition where no single point dominated the canvas.
