Biography
ラウル・デュフィ
Artist community
Raoul Dufy spent his career finding joy in color and movement. Born in Le Havre in 1877 to a musical family, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and absorbed the Fauvist aesthetic from Matisse's work around 1905. Yet Dufy's vision remained distinctly his own: luminous, rhythmic compositions that seem to hum with music. He painted yachting scenes and the glittering coast of the French Riviera, contemporary gatherings and elegant leisure. Beyond canvas, he designed textiles for Bianchini-Ferier and Paul Poiret, illustrated books by Apollinaire and Cocteau, and created stage sets.
