ヤーコプ・ファン・ロイスダール

Jacob van Ruisdael stands as the preeminent landscape painter of the Dutch Golden Age. Born in Haarlem around 1628 into a family of landscapists, he began painting by his late teens, initially depicting the flat dunes and forests of his native region with meticulous attention to nature. After traveling to Germany in 1650, his work took on a more dramatic character—he painted waterfalls, mountain scenes, and distant castles with heroic grandeur, though he likely never visited Scandinavia despite producing over 150 northern views.
