俵屋宗達

Tawaraya Sōtatsu was an early Edo-period painter and decorator who led the Tawaraya workshop in Kyoto, making decorated objects from fans to screens. Rising from craft work to become one of Japan's greatest artists, he is now recognized as a co-founder of the Rinpa school alongside Hon'ami Kōetsu, with whom he created celebrated collaborations combining painting and calligraphy.
