アルバート・ベナール

Paul-Albert Besnard was a French painter and printmaker who spent his long career moving between tradition and innovation. Born in Paris in 1849, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts under Alexandre Cabanel and won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1874. Around 1880, after three years in England studying the colorists Gainsborough and Reynolds, he abandoned strict academic practice for a more luminous approach influenced by Impressionist technique.
