Bill Finger

Bill Finger shaped the visual and narrative language of Batman before his name appeared on a single comic. Working alongside Bob Kane from 1938, Finger transformed Kane's initial concept—a Superman-like figure with stiff wings—into the vigilante detective we recognize today: he designed the cowl with pointed ears, the cape, the gloves, and devised Bruce Wayne as the secret identity.
