Jeffrey Gibson

Jeffrey Gibson makes paintings, sculptures, and installations that fuse Native American traditions with contemporary urban aesthetics. Born in Colorado Springs in 1972 and of Choctaw and Cherokee descent, he draws on his nomadic childhood across North Carolina, New Jersey, Germany, and South Korea to create work that holds multiple identities in tension. His practice combines beadwork, trading post blankets, and found objects with airbrushed abstracts, graffiti-inspired forms, and psychedelic color.
