Artist community
Luis Jiménez (1940–2006) created monumental fiberglass sculptures of unflinching vitality, drawing on Mexican muralism, lowrider culture, and the vernacular visual world around him. Born in El Paso to a neon-sign maker, he refused to distinguish between commercial and fine art, airbrushing his polychrome works with the glossy, glittering surfaces of customized cars.
