Marc Turtletaub turned from finance to film after selling The Money Store for $700 million in 1998. In 2000, he founded Deep River Productions with David Friendly, and later co-founded Big Beach Films with Peter Saraf, becoming known for backing distinctive independent films with emotional depth. His productions include Little Miss Sunshine, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Farewell, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood—films often centered on human connection and underrepresented voices.
