Terry Blade draws from blues, soul, gospel, country, and folk traditions to craft sparse, narrative-driven songs rooted in Black American musical history. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Blade relocated to Chicago, where he began in 2020 to transform journal entries into music. His work frequently incorporates archival audio—interviews, spoken-word recordings, and field documentation—to explore themes of race, sexuality, inter-generational memory, and Southern Black identity.
